Farm Vlog – Predator Trouble, Baby Bunnies, and Hope for New Chicks

Today’s farm vlog takes you through a rollercoaster of real life on a hobby farm. We’re dealing with predator attacks, tiny baby animals, and the hope of saving a beloved bloodline of chickens. My sister’s flock was hit hard by a predator, and she lost her rooster, Charlie. But there’s still hope—we’ve added her fertilized eggs to our incubator in hopes of hatching new chicks and continuing her flock’s legacy.

We also sent her home with some of our extra chicks to help rebuild. On our own farm, our black Rex rabbit, Deli, overgroomed one of her babies and the little one lost an ear. It’s a sad accident, but he’s strong and will live a happy life here. We also take a look at our small family garden to check on the crops growing out back, and give an adorable update on Tequila’s puppies—now two and a half weeks old and absolutely thriving.

Whether you're here for the chickens, rabbits, crops, or baby livestock guardian dogs, today’s vlog is full of real-life farm moments.

Farm Vlog - Bunny Swap, Homemade Butter, and Growing Puppies!

Welcome back to Andersen Acres for another cozy day on the farm! In this peaceful Friday farm vlog, we’re sharing some of the little moments that make hobby farming so special. We started the day by redistributing baby bunnies between two rabbit does to balance out their litters and make sure every bunny gets the care they need. Then, we churned our own homemade butter—because what else do you do when you're out of butter but want to bake cookies?

It’s also Friday, which means it’s Tristan’s chicken tender night! Watch as he prepares delicious homemade chicken tenders from scratch. And of course, we couldn’t forget the Great Pyrenees puppies and farm kittens, who are growing fast and getting cuter by the day. It won’t be long until the puppies leave for their forever homes.

If you love hobby farming, homesteading, and the everyday joy of raising animals, you’ll feel right at home here.

Farm Vlog - Baby Bunnies, Duck Eggs, and Lazy Day Chores

Welcome back to Andersen Acres! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s a slower, lazier day here on the farm—but there’s still plenty going on. In today’s farm vlog, we check in on our adorable baby Rex rabbits, including two litters with fascinating color genetics. One litter will feature brown-based colors like lynx, chestnut, chocolate, and lilac, while the other will lean black-based. We chat about how rabbit color genetics work and why we’re focusing more on quail hatching than chickens right now. With the end of hatching season approaching, quail are in higher demand and better suited to the time of year.

We also share our simple farm kitchen routines—making homemade butter, a fresh loaf of bread, and prepping shredded chicken for meals. Plus, we discover more duck eggs stashed under the barn. Unfortunately, our ducks are still terrible moms, so we collect the eggs for safety.

You’ll also get a peek at our newborn bunnies “popcorning” with energy—they’re nearly bouncing right out of the nestbox!

If you love animals, homesteading, or hobby farming, don’t miss this slice of real farm life.
