Farm Vlog – Bittersweet Goodbyes and New Beginnings on the Farm

Welcome back to Andersen Acres! Today’s farm vlog is full of emotions as we say goodbye to Little Smokey, our sweet grey kitten, who left for his forever home. While it’s always hard to let go, we know he’s going to a loving family—and that’s what hobby farming is all about: raising animals with care and letting them thrive. In this video, we talk about the emotional balance of raising animals, loving them deeply, and preparing them for life beyond our homestead.

We also check in on our Great Pyrenees puppies, who just got their brand-new collars—so adorable! You'll get updates on our baby bunnies, the rest of our playful kittens, and even catch a glimpse of new life as eggs begin hatching in the incubator.

Whether you're interested in hobby farming, animal husbandry, or the everyday joys and challenges of homesteading, this video is a heartfelt slice of life from our busy, animal-filled farm.

Farm Vlog - Baby Bunnies, Duck Eggs, and Lazy Day Chores

Welcome back to Andersen Acres! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s a slower, lazier day here on the farm—but there’s still plenty going on. In today’s farm vlog, we check in on our adorable baby Rex rabbits, including two litters with fascinating color genetics. One litter will feature brown-based colors like lynx, chestnut, chocolate, and lilac, while the other will lean black-based. We chat about how rabbit color genetics work and why we’re focusing more on quail hatching than chickens right now. With the end of hatching season approaching, quail are in higher demand and better suited to the time of year.

We also share our simple farm kitchen routines—making homemade butter, a fresh loaf of bread, and prepping shredded chicken for meals. Plus, we discover more duck eggs stashed under the barn. Unfortunately, our ducks are still terrible moms, so we collect the eggs for safety.

You’ll also get a peek at our newborn bunnies “popcorning” with energy—they’re nearly bouncing right out of the nestbox!

If you love animals, homesteading, or hobby farming, don’t miss this slice of real farm life.

Farm Vlog – Puppies, Duck Eggs & Distractions!

Welcome back to Andersen Acres! Today’s hobby farm vlog is one of those beautifully chaotic days where everything almost gets done—but not quite. We started off strong, heading out to search for abandoned duck eggs around the barn (we found a bunch yesterday, but not so much today). Then I cleaned up a rabbit with a messy face—because farm glamour is real, right?

Next, we meant to make homemade butter and prep some tacos… but then puppies happened. My mom stopped by for a puppy visit, and well—can you blame us? Then someone came to pick up their baby bunny, which meant more bunny snuggles and grooming.

We checked everyone for wood ticks (a must during warmer weather), cuddled the kittens (they're almost ready for their forever homes!), and candled some duck eggs—turns out a couple are actually developing, so into lockdown they go!

If you love real-life homesteading, adorable animals, and the kind of farm day where plans change with every meow and quack, this vlog is for you.

Farm Vlog - Duck Drama, Bunny Babies, and Puppy Snuggles!

Welcome back to Andersen Acres! In today’s farm vlog, we’re dealing with a surprisingly chilly June day, but the animals are keeping us busy and entertained. Dolly, our Cayuga duck, has been moving eggs around—but since she’s not the most reliable broody, we stepped in. A few of her eggs were developing, so we carefully transferred them to the incubator in hopes of giving them a real chance to hatch.

Meanwhile, Stump—our brown Rex rabbit—had her babies! That makes two brand-new litters of kits on the farm. We take a look at both nests and check that everyone’s warm, fed, and doing well. We also candle some of our chicken eggs to check development and talk about what you should look for when candling your own.

And the highlight of the day? Snuggling Tequila’s newborn puppies, of course! These tiny livestock guardian dogs are growing fast and stealing hearts already.

If you’re into hobby farming, raising animals, or just love a peek into real-life homesteading, this vlog is for you.
